THE STORY ON ARCH SUPPORTS

First, a history is obtained about your problems. A regular foot and leg evaluation is then performed including your general circulation, skin, nerve, and skeletal status.

Next, a "biomechanical" evaluation is done which determines your special bone, joint, muscle and ligament relationships. This includes muscle testing, gait observation, and X-rays (if deemed necessary).

Finally, plaster of Paris casting is done one foot at a time to capture the proper foot relationships necessary to produce the controlling orthotic. These "negative neutral suspension casts" are sent to a special orthotics laboratory where your custom-made devices are produced  under conditions where quality-control is paramount.

The orthotic devices fit into your shoes if you have selected the proper type of shoe. The purpose of an "arch support" is actually to control the motions and positions of the the foot bones, muscles, joints, and ligaments as you stand and walk. Some degree of correction of your underlying problem is usually obtained with these supporting inlays. This can then relieve some or all of the symptons of back, hip, leg, ankle, and foot pain. Simply put, the supports change the "foundation structure" over which our entire body operates. While not a "cure-all", daily use of your orthotics can yield beneficial results that have been described as truly amazing and wonderful.
